Meet the Team
Marquis Scott
Director of Career Services – Student Development
Marquis has been an Arizona resident since 1993 and with GCU since 2013. He has a Master of Education in Higher Learning and Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Business and Public Administration.
Marquis joined Grand Canyon University to reestablish and grow the elective internship program for GCU campus students. He also worked as the Director of Employer Engagement building the directory of employers and organizations to hire GCU graduates. As an active member of the Phoenix community, Marquis has served as the past chairman of the Sphinx Educational Fund a local nonprofit focusing on the development and success of local minority youth. He is also the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. March Coordinator for the City of Phoenix for over 20 years.
He is a father of three, and a grandfather of eight.


Troy Wethe
Career Advisor
Troy holds a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology in Mental Health from Purdue University, a Master of Arts in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Grand Canyon University and a Human Resources Management Certificate from IUPUI. He has extensive experience advising GCU students (both trad and non-trad), along with an expansive background of providing career counseling services to high-level organizations such as Enron, British Petroleum, Honeywell, the NFL, Xerox, US Olympic Team and the NBA. Troy has worked at Purdue University as a Career Advisor, Counselor and Instructor and at Lee Hecht Harrison, as a Career Management & HR consultant, where he was awarded the Presidential award. Troy has also supported traditional ground students as an Advisor for CCOB, CET, CNS, COE, COT, CONHCP, CAM & CHSS.
Rebecca Belz
Career Advisor
Rebecca brings over 20 years of diverse experience in Christian education, ranging from homeschooling her children through high school, working in K-12 charter schools, and over eight years in higher education. She is also an experienced professional recruiter, utilizing her deep understanding of education, human resources, and hiring to help others succeed in their pursuits.
Rebecca’s educational journey is a testament to the belief that it’s never too late to pursue your passions—she began her higher education after her children were grown. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications, specializing in public speaking, as well as a Master’s in Organizational Leadership, focusing on the “people side” of business including Change Management, Process Improvement, Project Management, HR Management, Team Building, Lean Six Sigma, and more.
With a unique combination of teaching expertise and leadership training, Rebecca is dedicated to empowering individuals in their personal and professional growth while keeping Jesus at the center.


Michelle Elliott
CCSC Program Manager
Michelle started with the Canyon Christian Schools Consortium (CCSC) team as a GCU student. After graduating in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with minors in Business Management and Christian Studies, she started working full-time as the CCSC Scholarship Program Manager. Michelle loves working in the CCSC program and with students because she gets to see firsthand the impact that individuals have on the community. The goal of the CCSC Scholarship Program is to connect students with service partners so that they can grow personally and professionally while serving others. Her favorite memory of working at GCU is when the CCSC scholars and staff were invited to help at the Glendale Christmas Parade!
